What Insurers Want in a Leak Report

How a documented, dated leak investigation report supports a claim, and what to gather.

Adjusters work from evidence: where the water came from, when it was found, what it affected and what was done about it. A report that states these facts plainly, with dated photographs and readings, saves weeks of back-and-forth.

Documentation should distinguish confirmed findings from items that require further inspection. Insurers notice when a report admits uncertainty; it makes the rest of it more credible.

Keep the report, the repair invoice and the verification scan together. The claim is usually stronger when the file tells a complete story from discovery to confirmation.
